The surprisingly easy way to get the perfect belt measurement

In need of a new belt? Not sure what your belt measurement is? For YOKU belts we have made it super simple to get the perfect belt size.

A mens pant size is unfortunately not an accurate way to get the right actual (real world) size for a belt. The only reliable way to do this is to measure from the pin of the current belt to the currently used hole. This is how we size our belts, however to try to align our belt sizes as best we can to pant sizes you have to add 4 inches

For examples a size 32 YOKU belt will measure 36 inches from the pin in the buckle to the centre hole in the strap. For most men this will also be aligned to their pant size of a size 32 but that last part isn't a given unfortunately

Using your old belt measurement

One way to get a great fit on your belt is to grab your old belt and measure from the edge of the frame to the hole that you use right now. It's important to try to lay the belt as flat as you can on the table and have it straight. An older belt will have a curve to it, especially if its leather so you'll need to correct for this

Once you have this flat and as straight as possible then simply lay a tape measure along side the belt and measure as shown in the images below.

Belt Measurement starting at the far edge of the frame

Belt measurement ends where the hole you use the most lines up.

Get this number IN INCHES and deduct 4 from that number. In my example below it measured 36 inches so I would choose a size 32. I also wear a size 32

It should be noted that the size you get may not line up with your actual pant size as these can vary widely.

Either way the YOKU belt comes with 3 holes, each 2.5cm (basically 1 inch) apart and a leather hole punch which you can use to add another hole if you need to for any reason (just need a hammer and a old piece of wood you can use underneath to brace the leather when you punch out the hole)

No belt? Try using a tape measure

If you don't have an existing belt you can use then the equivalent approach is to use a tailors measuring tape around your waist, over jeans/pants where you would normally wear them. You will want to have the tape be snug but not so tight you can't squeeze 2 fingers in behind the tape.

If you don't have a tailors measuring tape for your belt measurement then best to get a piece of string and do the above then lay that flat and taught against a handyman's measuring tape
